Welcome to Year 2 of #BeeWell
Welcome to our first #BeeWell Wednesday newsletter of the new academic year! In 2 weeks’ time, the second #BeeWell survey window will be open. We are excited to be entering the second year of the #BeeWell programme, working with over 190 secondary schools across Greater Manchester to hear the voices of as many young people in Years 9 and 10 as possible. We are so pleased to be working with 30 more schools that completed the #BeeWell survey in Year 1 – thank you to the fantastic schools for getting involved in the programme and making a difference for young people’s wellbeing.
Get involved in #BeeWell Festival 2022
Have you heard the news? #BeeWell Festival is taking place on Thursday 22nd September, inviting schools and youth organisations to celebrate all things wellbeing. Building on last year’s #BeeWell Day, the festival will feature live performances, wellbeing workshops, sport activities and more. There are two days until the deadline for schools and youth groups to sign-up, with all info available here.
We are really pleased to be expanding #BeeWell Festival even further this year, calling on our partners to get involved with #BeeWell Week, 19th-23rd September. Our partners can get involved by spreading the word on social media or doing something differently in your organisation to support young people’s wellbeing. For more information and the full comms pack, take a look on our website.
A new feature to the #BeeWell dashboard to support our partners making place-based change
We are delighted to share that the #BeeWell dashboard has received a major update this month. The ‘Neighbourhood Profile’ tool allows users to look at all the #BeeWell survey results for one neighbourhood, along with contextual information from other datasets. We hope this will allow our partners to use the dashboard with more ease, and find the data they need to make change for young people’s wellbeing in Greater Manchester’s neighbourhoods.
Thank you to our partners at the Education Policy Institute for collecting this contextual data. For more detail on the new feature, read more on our website.
Summer re-cap: #BeeWell Youth Steering Group activities
Over the summer holidays, we got the chance to spend time working and planning with our brilliant #BeeWell Youth Steering Group (YSG) and more young people involved in #BeeWell activities. The YSG had an amazing session to plan what their priorities will be for the next year, starting work on their own manifesto – we can’t wait to share this in coming weeks.
We can also now share that the YSG has commissioned two organisations to deliver projects that respond to the #BeeWell findings on physical activity and community belonging. The two organisations appointed are Pathfinders UK and Social adVentures, who will deliver their projects by the end of 2023.
Our evaluation partners, Renaisi, also held a training day for young people interested in #BeeWell, all about qualitative research. The group explored how Renaisi could speak with young people to understand what #BeeWell means to them.
