Exploring the #BeeWell data with Senior Mental Health Leads in Oldham

Every year, we work with Oldham Council’s Mental Health in Education Manager to support the network of Senior Mental Health Leads in Oldham schools to explore their #BeeWell data and see how these insights from their pupils can complement the work they’re doing to support mental health and wellbeing.

This year, we joined the group for another session, exploring the latest headline findings, longitudinal data in the school dashboards and what common themes stood out across Oldham for action to be taken. We heard so much about how this group of Senior Mental Health Leads are already using the data and what more they plan to do to support their pupils’ wellbeing. This included:

  • The idea of wellbeing days or marketplaces for young people to learn more about what support they could access,
  • How mental health support teams and other colleagues can support schools in response to their #BeeWell data,
  • Training for staff on relationships,
  • How #BeeWell is used as one pupil voice tool, complemented by other pupil surveys and voice activities that inform wellbeing work, including recently how #BeeWell data supported Crompton House to receive a gold standard School Mental Health Award,
  • Work to support young people to become Wellbeing Ambassadors in school,
  • How arts, culture and green spaces are being used to support wellbeing and peer relationships,

Sharing how they have responded to their #BeeWell data, Darren Casey, Assistant Headteacher at Saddleworth School commented:

“As a results of the analysis of data provided through the #BeeWell Survey, we have been able to develop our curriculum and include more information for students and parents / carers about both the importance of sleep and strategies to improve sleep hygiene”
