New #BeeWell publications 

Over the past month, we’ve released three brand new #BeeWell publications exploring the wellbeing of young people. We’re excited to share with you… 

• #BeeWell Evidence Briefing 4: Participation in arts, culture and entertainment (PACE). The briefing explores the relationship between wellbeing & PACE, and amongst many other conclusions, finds that engagement in a wide range of activities is shown to be beneficial for young people’s wellbeing. The relationship between the two may also be reciprocal, with those with higher initial wellbeing scores being more likely to engage in PACE activities. You can watch a video explaining the findings here. 
• #BeeWell Brief 3: Sleep. In this shorter brief, the #BeeWell team explore the relationship between sleep & young people’s wellbeing, finding that those who reported lower sleep quality also reported much lower wellbeing. Put simply, sleep matters! Read the brief for even more info on what we found about young people’s sleep in the #BeeWell data. 
• Wellbeing at School: International insights from twelve jurisdictions. 

Youth participation in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton (HIPS) 

We are delighted to be working alongside nine local VCSE organisations to shape the future of #BeeWell in HIPS. Throughout the next six months, we will be hearing from young people across the region to co-create a young person’s decision making group, help analyse the results of the survey and shape decisions on how we act on the findings. 

We will be holding a central event for the groups in the 2024 Easter School Holidays, if you would like to get involved please contact hiow.beewell@hants.gov.uk. 

Support the last few weeks of this year’s #BeeWell survey window 

As you may already know, there is just one month left of this year’s #BeeWell survey window! Young people in Years 8 and 10 in HIPS and in Year 10 in Greater Manchester (GM) have until the 1st December 2023 to complete the survey in their school. We’ve pulled together a new comms pack for our partners looking to spread the word about this year’s survey. Please click the link to download the comms pack and see how you can support us!

• The Greater Manchester Youth Alliance is launching their new vision and calls to action this month! We’re so pleased to have been involved and supporting the alliance from #BeeWell, as over 140 organisations supporting children and young people come together in GM. The launch on the 8th November is currently at full capacity, but we’re excited to share continued updates on this work and the next steps. Find out more: Youth Alliance GM.  
• A #BeeWell blog, working with the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership, looking at #BeeWell data and Mental Health Support Teams in GM.  
• A blog from Kailo, sharing how they have used the #BeeWell survey in North Devon: #BeeWell: Unleashing the Power of Youth Voice for Better Wellbeing.
