More than 300 schools sign-up to #BeeWell across two locations

We are excited to share the number of schools signed up to participate in #BeeWell 2023/24! Over 170 schools have confirmed their engagement for Year 3 in Greater Manchester (GM), where we will hear from the final year of the tracked cohort that have been surveyed annually for three years. And, just under 90% of mainstream secondary schools in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth & Southampton (HIPS) have committed to take part in #BeeWell for the first time in 2023, with 130 schools participating overall! We can’t wait to hear from even more young people this year, to help make young people’s wellbeing everybody’s business.

New #BeeWell Briefing: Young Researchers Programme 2023

This year, 14 young people from across Greater Manchester have taken part in the #BeeWell Young Researchers Programme, to get hands on with the GM data and answer research questions on young people’s wellbeing. The programme ended with a trip to the University of Manchester’s Data Visualisation Observatory, where young people viewed in 3D the data they had explored.

We are pleased to share a briefing exploring the relationship between key themes they wanted to study this year, including emotion regulation, sleep & post Year-11 options. Read more about what we found in the data, here: New briefing from the #BeeWell Young Researchers Programme.

Read about this year’s The Politics Project: #BeeWell Digitial Dialogue programme

In the last two years, #BeeWell commissioned The Politics Project to run digital dialogues across Greater Manchester, where young people present their views and priorities from their school’s #BeeWell data to elected representatives and Council officials in their local area. The Politics Project have shared a summary of the brilliant sessions that have taken place this year, with physical activity, good places to go, healthy eating, sleep & communicating opportunities coming up most frequently in discussions. Find the blog here: The Politics Project: #BeeWell Digital Dialogues.

New blog explores the #BeeWell survey co-creation process

In our latest blog, the #BeeWell team in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth & Southampton detail the process of co-designing the #BeeWell survey with young people & schools in the region. This process was undertaken to tailor the questions to reflect local priorities and ensure the questions are relevant for young people in HIPS. This same process was undertaken with the first #BeeWell survey designed with young people in Greater Manchester.

You can read the full blog and find out more about how #BeeWell surveys are co-developed, here: #BeeWell Survey Design: Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth & Southampton
