Reflections on the Youth Summit 2024
Four young people travelled from Greater Manchester and Hampshire to attend the Fair Education Youth Summit in October 2024.
They joined 165 other young people for the youth summit – a conference designed by and for young people who have faced barriers to education.
We shared this instagram reel of the journey!
One of our youth steering group members told us:
“attending the Youth Summit 2024 was an incredible experience. The highlight for me was meeting new people. Everyone was not only friendly but also committed to the organisations they were representing”
Another member of the youth steering group shared that their highlights were to connect with individuals from various steering groups, network, and add new contacts on LinkedIn.
“The summit provided opportunities to engage with like-minded young people and gain new experiences. The sessions were excellent and covered topics such as networking, debating, and a chance to meet with Ofsted.”
One of the takeaways from the day for the young people representing #BeeWell was the opportunity to hear from Sanjan Sabherwal Department for Education. Promoting the view that “if you can’t find something that represents you, be the representation”
The group shared that all those attending had the same feeling and ideas about wellbeing and education, with different ideas on how to take action and make a change. Feeding back for future events, members of the Youth Steering Group want to focus more on action and how we deliver on some of the big ideas and themes discussed on the day. We look forward to continuing getting involved in these events and ensuring the voices of #BeeWell young people are part of these conversations.
