Kirith Entwistle MP visits Sharples School to discuss wellbeing with young people

We were delighted to support a visit in June with Kirith Entwistle MP, to Sharples School in their constituency of Bolton North East. The session was designed for young people to explore their local #BeeWell data with their elected representative, and feedback on what could be done to support young people’s wellbeing locally and nationally.

We shared a #BeeWell quiz to test everyone’s local knowledge on the data, exploring places for young people to go in their free time, loneliness, school belonging and more.

After lots of discussions on the data, what it might be telling us and what we should do about it, the pupils from Sharples School prepared a fantastic presentation, where they all spoke about what’s available in school to support their wellbeing

At the end of the session, young people then shared their final thoughts on what they would love to see in Bolton to support young people’s wellbeing, including more green spaces, parks for older teenagers, physical activity spaces for women and more.

Speaking about the session, Kirith Entwistle MP said:

“I had a wonderful time at Sharples School, speaking with the students about their mental health and wellbeing. We heard some really interesting statistics from #BeeWell, who have surveyed more than 100,000 students in Greater Manchester about their experiences. We have to do more to engage with young people to help shape services and communities that effectively meet their needs.”

Huge thanks to the fantastic group of young people that got involved in the session, and to Kirith Entwistle MP & team for a great day!
