Sign-up for #BeeWell 2022/23 is now open!

#BeeWell has now opened the sign-up window for new schools in Greater Manchester to get involved in the #BeeWell programme. We are extremely grateful for the support we received from our Coalition of Partners to sign-up secondary schools to #BeeWell, and the amazing efforts teachers made to deliver the survey within schools. With the support of our partners and schools, we hope to hear the voices of even more young people in Autumn 2022.

We are excited to begin the second year of the programme soon, this time with enhanced support for APs and PRUs to take part, and the opportunity to start seeing the impact our partners have made across Greater Manchester in the 2022 survey results.

Schools who delivered the survey last year have been automatically signed up for 2022/23. We are now asking schools who signed up but didn’t deliver the survey, or those that didn’t sign-up, to confirm they will be taking part this year by the 19th July 2022. If you would like to get in touch about a school sign-up, make sure to let us know by emailing beewell@manchester.ac.uk!

#BeeWell webinar with schools on social media use and wellbeing

#BeeWell brought together schools across Greater Manchester, to discuss the relationship between social media use and wellbeing. We were joined by Dr Amy Orben of the University of Cambridge, who gave a presentation on the research on this topic, and the webinar was chaired by Dr Margarita Panayiotou of the University of Manchester. If you would like to listen to their presentations, look back to the session on our website.

The Times Education Commission recommends a wellbeing survey is delivered annually in every school

We were delighted to see The Times Education Commission make an annual wellbeing survey for young people one of their twelve recommendations in the June 2022 report. The report looks at the #BeeWell programme and reviews some of the findings of the 2021 surveys. To read more about this recommendation and view the full report, read more here.

#BeeWell blog: Inequalities in adolescent wellbeing

We are pleased to share the launch of our new #BeeWell blogs section of the website – in which we will share our latest blogs about #BeeWell activities and findings from the data. You can now read our first blog, which features reflections from our team, The Proud Trust and a young person, on inequalities in wellbeing, particularly on the disparities experienced by LGBTQ+ young people.

#BeeWell’s Young Researchers visit the University’s data visualisation observatory

As the final part of our #BeeWell Young Researcher Programme, participants joined the #BeeWell team at the University of Manchester. On the day, we celebrated what the Young Researchers achieved in the programme and viewed the data that had been explored throughout the programme presented on the 3D map of Greater Manchester.
