Young people are absolutely central to #BeeWell. We co-created the survey together so they can tell us what they want and need. And together, we look at survey data to identify actions that will have a positive impact on their wellbeing.
Not only do we need to listen to what young people want, we need to listen to how they want us to respond. That’s why young people are involved with the work of #BeeWell and its delivery partners, every step of the way.
Our dedicated Youth Steering Group advocates on behalf of young people, ensures their interests stay central to all #BeeWell activities and steers our response to the #BeeWell data.
Not only is the group central to discussions and decision-making; it also has the power and funding to commission activities that address the survey findings they view as most important.
Off the back of the 2021 findings, the group commissioned Social AdVenture to run a neighbourhood forest school to bring young people together, get to know each other and enjoy their local area – supporting community belonging and connection.
The Youth Steering Group also commissioned Pathfinders UK to deliver fun, physical activities to encourage movement, with the funding supporting staff development and the purchase of equipment that can be used for future activities.
Our young people have also been involved in the commissioning of a £60,000 funding pot from the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership, to support LGBTQ+ young people’s mental health and wellbeing – something identified as a priority by the Youth Steering Group.
