Across Greater Manchester, we work with the ten local authorities to explore how they can use the #BeeWell insights to inform their work supporting young people. We spoke with colleagues in Trafford Council to capture the wide range of actions they have been taking to consider and respond to their local data.
Working with young people to act in response
Young people in Trafford have been involved in shaping local priorities from the #BeeWell insights. Trafford Youth Cabinet have supported the development of the action plan (more information below).
Funded by Big Change, Trafford have also taken part in work with #BeeWell to ensure young people are leading the response to the local data. In 2024/25, young people produced a creative response to the findings at Gorse Hill Studios, exploring and highlighting the key issues they found from the data. In this academic year, the focus will be a girls’ physical activity project, using the local data to target the sessions at those reporting lower levels of physical activity. To show young people their voices are making a difference, Trafford colleagues created and shared a ‘You Said, We Did’ resource that highlights how the 2023/24 #BeeWell insights have led to real action across schools and services.

Neighbourhood focus
Utilising insights from the #BeeWell neighbourhood and locality ‘at a glance’ dashboards, colleagues have ensured key findings for the whole of Trafford and specific neighbourhoods are taken to the appropriate neighbourhood meetings. The aim has been to promote the programme and encourage action on a neighbourhood level to the #BeeWell findings.
Influencing plans and policy
Colleagues across Trafford commit to responding to #BeeWell through their local #BeeWell Action Plan, with a quarterly meeting to monitor progress and drive action. This includes representatives across commissioning, youth services, public health and more. #BeeWell data also informs Children’s Services needs assessment and action plans to influence positive change and commissioning.
Next steps
Trafford continue to work with the #BeeWell team to use the latest data, with new insights coming in April 2026, to drive local action. In coming months, #BeeWell will also be working with Trafford’s SEND Participation and Engagement Officer to understand feedback from schools that will then hopefully help increase specialist school and SEND participation in the survey.
