In early November 2022, Sir Richard Leese, Chair of Greater Manchester’s Integrated Care Board launched GM’s strategy to be the first Creative Health city-region in the world. The Integrated Care Partnership says the plan will ‘harness the power of creativity, culture and heritage to address inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of our residents’.
The new strategy outlines how creative health will be used to help protect from illness and assist in managing long-term conditions, along with exploring the relationship that creativity and culture has on our ability to lead longer, healthier and happier lives.
The strategy references how #BeeWell’s collection of data can help in encouraging creative approaches to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. It also includes how the #BeeWell Champions social prescribing pilot will provide the opportunity for young people to commission and engage with creative activities for the benefit of their wellbeing.
