Speaking with Army of Kindness, Rochdale

As you can see in the video above, Army of Kindness is a Soup Kitchen in Rochdale that was created in response to the Boxing Day floods of 2015. Responding to the suffering they saw, a group of volunteers set up Army of Kindness to provide a place to eat and drink, a place to get warm, and, most of all, a place of community.

They celebrate their ten-year anniversary this year, and it’s amazing to think about the amount of people they have helped in that time.

The reason we wanted to speak to them should be obvious from the video above. They have a host of young volunteers who are doing their bit for the community, lending support to those in need. At the same time, they are creating opportunities for themselves to grow and learn and to get the rewards that come from helping others.

We really enjoyed our visit to Army of Kindness and want to thank everyone that took part. You can hear what Aqib, Chloe, and Harry get from volunteering in the video above – but we also met loads more volunteers who didn’t want to be on camera. All of them are wonderful examples of how volunteering is an example of success and the wonders it can do for your wellbeing.
