#BeeWell hosts breakout space at UK Youth Joined Up Summit

We really enjoyed hosting a breakout space at the UK Youth Joined Up Summit in Birmingham!

The summit was organised to break down the barriers that exist between the different sectors and types of organisations and services that support young people. The summit was a step in the movement towards a “new era of joined-up working that puts young people’s needs and aspirations at the centre”.

We were joined by special guests from Young Manchester and Company Chameleon and a video presentation from young people from Light Up Shirley Ensemble for our breakout session. Our workshop was a wonderful platform to share how #BeeWell is a positive example of joined up working. We mobilise cross-sector collaboration by listening to young people about wellbeing, and driving action across society based on what they say.

During our session we shared:

📣 What #BeeWell is and does (a co-created youth wellbeing survey listening to young people’s experiences, delivered annually via schools at scale in two regions, within a programme of joined-up working to drive action in response to to the data and to celebrate young people’s wellbeing).

📣 How our partner Company Chameleon have been using the data to target, fundraise for and evaluate their fantastic Movement in Mind programme in Greater Manchester.

📣 What our partner Young Manchester do to put the power of the #BeeWell data back into young people’s hands.

📣 How our partner Light Up Shirley Ensemble have been using drama to facilitate for young people in Southampton to interpret their local data and combine it with their own experiences to produce a play that communicates key local issues affecting youth wellbeing.

📣 An invitation for everyone to be part of the campaign for the government to commit to a national wellbeing measurement programme: to drive action for youth wellbeing right across the country!

Our team member Beth Powell who hosted the session said:

“It was a really heart-warming day full of connection and optimism, with young people at its heart. We made brilliant connections and enjoyed learning about all the different initiatives showcased!  I was so happy to hear the many fantastic stories of how organisations and services are already using the #BeeWell data to listen to young people, and we were blown away by the support and enthusiasm for a national wellbeing measurement campaign.”

Nathan Parker’s spoken word piece captured the importance of the #BeeWell approach brilliantly when summarising the day:

“If it matters then measure it!”

Huge thanks and congratulations to all of the young co-producers of the summit from UK Youth and #iWill, and to everyone involved in putting together this great event!
